Delegation (Switch Account) vs Proxy

Delegation (Switch Account) vs Proxy

This one of the questions asked in the interviews. We all know what Proxy is right! Here a refresher if you are new to this concept.

What is Proxy?

The authority to represent someone else. For example if your Manager went on leave for 10 days, and there are multiple approvals pending on his/her side which are very important or urgent. In an ideal scenario your manager can delegate his/her work items to one of his peer or manager, so that they can complete the tasks on this behalf. This is called as delegation, which usually happens in the Production tenants.

What is Delegation?

Delegation is the assignment of any responsibility or authority to another person (normally from a manager to a subordinate) to carry out specific activities. Here in Workday, we can say that Tasks and Reports and inbox items can be delegated to other peers or managers to be completed on their behalf.

This Delegation is majorly used when a manager is on Leave and certain task needs to be completed, the Manager can delegate his tasks to someone else who can complete in his absence. And this is used in Production Tenants.

When you have delegations. you will see switch account. In the below example, Logan McNeil is able to see Joy Banks account to switch where in the delegations of Joy Banks some of the tasks or initiate items are delegated to Logan McNeil.
